Hi I'm Nick.
Most recently, I’ve been a brand strategist in advertising, a doorman, a barista, a contributing writer for PSFK magazine and a student in Columbia University's MFA Creative Writing Program. At one point, at the same time.
I’m focusing on brand strategy and writing at the moment. In both crafts, I am here to notice things, to tell stories, to pay attention to how one sentence leads to the next, to build worlds and characters, to evoke emotion and to have some fun.
As a brand strategist, my role is to find connections and meaning in pools of information, to come up with ideas, to help make things clear, to uncover human truths, to keep a pulse on culture, and to crystalize the problem we are making advertising to solve for in the first place. What I love in the ad business is good work, people who care about it, not seeing people as titles, and mentoring those newly interested in strategic planning. And what I hate is jargon, dependency on meetings and how hard it is for someone new to break into strategy. And for writing, I’m currently working on a collection of short stories.
